Red Bridge

Series · 06 frames

The Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte — the Red Bridge — at the hour when the valley below goes blue and the steel holds the last of the light.

Aerial photographs of the Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte — the red bridge that connects the Kirchberg plateau to the lower city across the Alzette valley. Known informally as the Pont Rouge for its distinctive red-painted steel structure, it is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Luxembourg City. Photographed in July 2026 at blue hour and sunset, at 80–100 metres altitude with a DJI Mini 5 Pro.

The aerial vantage changes the bridge entirely. From the ground it is a crossing — a way to get from the old city to Kirchberg. From above, the relationship between the red arch, the valley floor below, the Grund quarter to one side, and the Kirchberg towers to the other becomes a single frame. A vertical cross-section of Luxembourg City that no street photograph can make.
